BANNU:

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq said if Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif wants a liberal and secular Pakistan instead of one based on Islamic principles, he should go to New Delhi. Siraj was referring to a speech made by Nawaz earlier at an investment conference. A copy of the speech shows the prime minister was discussing a liberal economy.

Addressing the Naveed Islami jalsa in Bannu, Siraj was joined by JI leader Professor Ibrahim. The latter said there should equal education opportunities and health faculties for all. He said if the JI came into government at the centre, the party would provide shelter to the homeless and monthly stipends for the elderly.

They also prayed for party leaders Hussain Mujahid and Salahudin Quader who were executed in Dhaka, Bangladesh on charges of war crimes.

Meanwhile, Minister for Finance Muzaffar Said underlined JI was determined to improve the lifestyle of underprivileged people. He said various developmental projects were under way for this purpose.
