Gen Raheel in US: ‘Will take war against terror to logical end’

The army chief said Pakistan wants friendly relations with all neighbouring countries with honour and dignity

Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif has vowed to take the war against terrorism to its logical end and assured the public that the military would not let the sacrifices of martyrs to go in vain.


According to Radio Pakistan, Gen Raheel was addressing the Pakistani community at Pakistan Embassy in Washington.

He said that armed forces are committed to ensure peace and security in the country, as well as countering external threats to its solidarity.

The army chief said Pakistan wants friendly relations with all neighbouring countries with honour and dignity. He said that Pakistan and the United States have common views on countering the existing and emerging threats to their interests in the region.

He expressed complete satisfaction at the upward trajectory and growth in Pak-US defence and counter-terrorism cooperation.

General Raheel underlined the importance of the China-Pakistan economic corridor for Pakistan and said that it would bring greater economic prosperity to the whole region.

Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Jalil Abbas Jilani said that the armed forces were playing a vital role in safeguarding the country from internal and external threats.
