KARACHI:

Sindh Rangers have asked the citizens of Karachi on Saturday to report about forceful collection of donations by criminals including workers of a few 'political parties'. "Different groups including the members of a few political parties are collecting money in the name of forced donation from the traders and well-settled personalities as they have failed to get extortion money due to the Karachi operation by law enforcement agencies," stated a statement issued by the Sindh Rangers on Saturday. "Such complaints are being received. It should be mentioned that it is a criminal act according to clause 6 (2) of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 and life imprisonment is the punishment for it." The Rangers statement urged the citizens to inform the Rangers on their helpline 1101 about complaints regarding forced donation. "An immediate strict action will be taken following such complaints," said the statement, adding that the identities of the complainants will be protected.
