FAISALABAD: A man shot dead a woman on Friday near Faisalabad's Rehman Chowk after she turned down his proposal.

The incident occurred near Madina Town Police Station when Iqra, 24, a teacher was returning home from her job.

"Badar Manir approached Iqra, forcing her to convince her parents to accept his proposal, it was upon her refusal that he opened fire at her," a police official said.

Initial reports revealed that the young girl died on the spot as she received three bullets.

Soon after, the man committed suicide. "Right after the incident, Manir shot himself as well," the police official added.

Both the bodies have been shifted to Allied Hospital for postmortem.

Grieving over his daughter's death, Muhammad Arshad, while talking to the media, said, "It is extremely unfortunate that lawlessness is prevailing and parents have no security when it comes to sending their daughters to school or to work."

"If this trend doesn't stop, parents will have to confine their daughters to their homes to avoid such unfortunate incidents," he added.

Or you could try something like working to change your culture so that men don't feel entitled to the attention and affections of women. Women are autonomous human beings and they should be respected as such. If a woman says "no, I don't want to marry you", accept that and move on.
