Doctors and paramedical staff at Peoples Primary Health Initiative (PPHI) have threatened to shut down outdoor patient department and boycott polio drives if they are not paid their salaries.
The announcement was made during a protest outside Bacha Khan Medical Complex in Swabi on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Raheel, who works at PPHI, said 43 doctors and 15 technicians have been performing their duties without being paid. “We have participated in polio drives in Swabi,” he said. “PPHI had also promised to increase our salary. However, we haven’t even received our original salary as yet.”
According to the doctor, a letter has been sent to the district commissioner in this regard.
