KARACHI: The much anticipated love anthem Gerua from Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol Devgan’s starrer Dilwale was released on Wednesday and immediately  started trending on social media. Red Chillies Entertainments and Rohit Shetty Productions presented the song of the year at a gala event at Maratha Mandir in Mumbai, stated a press release.

The evening began with Varun and Kriti performing to Gerua trying to reprise the legendary romantic pose of Kajol-SRK. Then they invited the evergreen on-screen couple on stage to teach the exact steps of the song.

“Since Kajol and I are coming back together on-screen after five years, Rohit felt we should make Gerua stand out from all the songs we have done earlier. This song is all about the old world charm of me and Kajol, presented in a manner that is very much like Rohit Shetty,” Shah Rukh stated. “But Rohit was very clear and precise about how he would like to shoot this one. He paid attention to every detail starting from choice of location, costumes and every other technicality because it was essential to him.”

Will SRK, Kajol's 'Gerua' be this year's top hit?

Sung by Arijit Singh and Antara Mitra, Gerua is featured on the iconic couple of Kajol-SRK in the film. The song was shot in Iceland and according to Shetty, it will take romance to another level in the film. He shared, “When you shoot with a couple who has been synonymous with romance, a director has an added responsibility of enhancing the grandeur that they carry. Iceland was the perfect location for Gerua, where every locale is untouched and does justice to not only the song but SRK and Kajol as well.”

Speaking of the strenuous shooting for the song, Kajol shared “We shot the song in a start to finish schedule of seven days. We worked really hard and it was very cold but we enjoyed our performance. I’m sure the audiences will find it magical once they see it on-screen”. Releasing December 18, Dilwale is a family entertainer offering a blend of action, romance and comedy.
