Four killed over honour

An FIR has been registered against the suspect and further investigation is under way

At least four people were killed in separate cases of honour killing in Charsadda on Tuesday night.


Kashif, an official of Battagram police, told The Express Tribune on Wednesday the first incident took place in Beero Sukar area of Battagram, Charsadda. “Bilal Khan, a cook, and Mehreen Bibi were killed by Hubab Khan,” he added. According to the official, Syed Muhammad, Mehreen’s father, told the police Hubab had found Mehreen Bibi in an objectionable state with Bilal at his house on Tuesday night. “As a result, he gunned them down and managed to escape the scene,” he said. “An FIR has been registered against the suspect and further investigation is under way.”

In a separate case, two people identified as Noreen Bibi and Ayaz Khan were killed by Fayaz Khan. Khaista Meena, a resident of Tangi and Noreen Bibi’s mother, filed a police complaint against the incident. Shehryar Khan, a police official, told The Express Tribune Fayaz, who hails from Mohmand Agency, was informed that his brother, Fazal Rehman, was killed by unidentified men at his house in Mandani, Charsadda on Tuesday morning.

“He suspected that Noreen, Fazal’s wife, and Ayaz Khan had killed his brother,” Shehryar said. “He believed they were having an affair and wanted to get married. As a result, Fayaz asked them to attend his brother’s funeral and killed them on arrival.”
