Punjab govt to hold energy conference in London

The Punjab government has planned to hold a major energy conference in London next month (May), in an attempt to find a solution to the severe electricity crisis in the province.


Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, at the PML-N branch in the UK said that the invitations will be extended to all major British companies in the energy sector.


People from the UK based Pakistani business community will also be requested to attend.


Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan's development and growth depends on overcoming energy problems and the provincial government  is keen to explore ways to produce electricity.

Meekal Ahmed | 14 years ago | Reply I agree with the above comment completely. We don't need more conferences and certainly not in London. We know what needs to be done in the energy sector. Just do it and stop wasting the nation's time.
Nadir El-Edroos | 14 years ago | Reply Would the CM like to share who is footing the bill for this exhibition in London? First they should atleast judge if there is any interest in investing in Pakistan to begin with before holding a conference. The last time I checked the UK was still struggling to recover from recession facing the largest ever contraction in GDP in 60 years. In the age of video conferencing, the internet etc, a country failing to meet its debt obligations is hardly in a position to hold conferences in foreign countries!
