Little boy's interview gives an insight into effect of terror attacks on children

Thousands of Parisians gathered to mourn the deaths of the 129 people that lost their lives in Friday’s atrocities. Tearful mourners honoured the victims while singing the French National Anthem and laying flowers and candles on the streets and public squares of Paris to pay tribute to the innocent lives lost.

French TV show Le Petit Journal interviewed a little boy this week, asking him how he feels about the terror attacks in his city. His answers evoked a sense of dismal in the viewers who are exposed to the fear that overwhelms children when exposed to such acts of terror.



When asked by the interviewer if he understands “why those people did that,” he gives a heartbreaking response; “Because they are really, really mean guys. Without any hesitation, he continues, “Bad guys are not very nice.”

Disappointedly, bowing his head down, he then stresses on the need to “be very careful because we have to change houses,” to which his father reassures him that he does not have to worry about that, saying that “France is our home.”

To this, the boy again says, “Yes but there’s bad guys, papa.”



The fearful boys’ father consoles him, revealing to him, the disappointing truth that “they’re bad guys everywhere.”

The boy tries explaining his father the threat facing him and his fellow countrymen, saying, “They have guns they can shoot us because they are really, really mean, papa.”

In response to his son’s fears, the boy’s father; in an attempt to help him understand how support can help overcome any act of horror, explains, “They might have guns, but we have flowers”.

The boy convinced, replies, “Yes, I feel better.”
