Asim Bajwa stresses on need of strict surveillance along the border to keep check on terrorists escaping Zarb-e-Azb

DG ISPR Lt General Asim Bajwa has said Pakistan will continue supporting peace efforts in Afghanistan with sincerity.

According to Radio Pakistan, he was speaking to media in Washington on Sunday as he arrived in the United States on an official visit.

Bajwa said Pakistan Army had preempted the neighbouring country terrorists could enter Afghanistan to escape the continuing offensive against militants in the tribal belt, Operation Zarb-e-Azb.

The DG ISPR stressed on the need for strict surveillance along the Pak-Afghan border to keep a check on terrorists escaping the operation.

About army chief General Raheel Sharif's visit, Bajwa said it was of great importance, given the changing regional environment.

The COAS will hold meetings with US civil and military leadership to discuss regional security and stability, he added.

Were the trained fighters (that too trained by the best of the best) to sit there and wait to be slaughtered. All these achievements claimed may be good for local consumption, but leave a lot to be pondered about by any person not blessed with blind faith.

curious2 | 9 years ago | Reply Pakistan could have coordinated it N Waziristan offensive with the USA/Afghanistan - chose not to. Pakistan could have launched N Waziristan offensive a decade ago when the USA was willing to station soldiers on the border - chose not to. Pakistan could have developed a battle plan which could have cut off Taliban retreat - chose not do. Asking Pakistan to control the border is a bit ridiculous - something they don't have the manpower to do - something that Pakistan has refused to do for the past 15 years.

Sami Shahid | 9 years ago | Reply should not expect anything from afghanistan....it is the most craziest country...it ruins everything that is in its interest....pakistan has been suffering just because afghanistan....todays attack at angoor adda justify that afghanistan is not a friendly country. such a country should not be broken into pieces but it should be eliminated from earth....all the terrorists are in afghanistan...IMU,ALQAEDA,HAQQANI,TTP AND NOW ISIS....pakistan should kill its enemy who chilling in kabul,kandahar and nuristan.
