LONDON: Ferrari’s 2011 Formula One car will be unveiled at the end of January after passing a series of mandatory crash tests last month.

The sport’s most successful team said that their Maranello factory was fully back to work after the Christmas break. “The new season beckons, with the launch of the new car planned for the final week of this month, while testing gets underway at the circuit near Valencia,” said the team.

Meanwhile, team principal Stefano Domenicali considered quitting after a strategy error in the final grand prix of last year cost Fernando Alonso the championship. Alonso was in the lead in the standing but an early pit-stop backfired, leaving him to finish seventh.

“I asked myself if it was right or not to stay. It seemed a reflection I had to do, a responsible one. I’m not attached to the hot-seat,” Domenicali told La Repubblica. “However, I reached the conclusion that to resign would have been an error.”
