RAWALPINDI:

Students of Riphah International University (RIU), Al-Meezan Campus on Mall Road, protested on the varsity’s premises on Wednesday, against a proposal to transfer two departments to other institutions in the capital. Students observed the strike to force the varsity’s administration to withdraw the proposed transfer of the medicine and physiotherapy departments to WISH University, in Sector H-8, as well as RIU’s department of dentistry to Sector G-7. During the protest, the administration confiscated personal cameras of students attempting to record videos of the protest. Students also attempted to take their protest outside the university onto the main road, but were barred by the police at the request of the administration.
