President Mamnoon Hussain invites PTI chairman to Aiwan-e-Sadr, says politics of confrontation should end

Amid growing conflict and confrontation between the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) over alleged rigging in elections, President Mamnoon Hussain has offered to mediate between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan.

While speaking to Express News anchor Javed Chaudhry on Wednesday, President Mamnoon invited the PTI chief to visit him at the President House.

“The president said Imran Khan has never visited me; I invite him to meet me at the President House,” Chaudhry quoted him as saying on Express News.

“I will also invite the prime minister and am ready to mediate between the two to put an to politics of confrontation.”

Quoting the president, the Express News anchor said President Mamnoon accepted rigging was prevalent in the present electoral system, which needed to be dealt with.

“Now, Imran Khan has to respond. The president is even willing to write an invitation letter,” Chaudhry added.

The PTI chairman has repeatedly accused the ruling PML-N of committing electoral fraud in the 2013 general elections, as well as the recently held local government polls.
