Imambargah attack: Three wounded in grenade attack

This is the third consecutive incident (targeting the Shia community) in the city in the last couple of days

KARACHI: At least three mourners were wounded when unidentified motorcycle riders hurled a hand grenade at a majlis inside an Imambargah in the North Nazimabad locality of Karachi Monday evening. The incident occurred at Masjid-o-Imambargah Hussainian Sajjadia located at Allama Rasheed Turabi Road in North Nazimabad within the limits of Hyderi police station. The injured, identified as Zain, Aziz and Mazahir, were rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Police officials and the bomb disposal squad experts also reached the site and collected evidence. SHO Amir Shah said at least two armed motorcyclists were behind the incident and further investigation was under way. Following the attack, scores of mourners staged a protest and demanded action against the culprits behind the incident. Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) strongly condemned the incident. “This is the third consecutive incident (targeting the Shia community) in the city in the last couple of days,” said MWM spokesperson.
