Illicit Weapons: Man sentenced to 21 years in jail

Fines were also imposed on the accused, with additional imprisonment in case of non-payment

KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court sentenced on Monday a man to a collective 21 years in prison and another to seven years in prison after convicting them of possessing illicit weapons and explosives. Nafees Ghani was found guilty of carrying five hand grenades and an unlicensed rifle, while his accomplice, Adnan, was convicted for possessing a pistol. They were arrested in a raid by law enforcers near Saddar in May last year. The ATC-IX judge, Farman Ali Kanasro, handed 14-year imprisonment to Nafees for possessing explosive materials and seven years to both in the illicit weapon cases. Fines were also imposed on the accused, with additional imprisonment in case of non-payment.
