FAISALABAD: President of the Council of Looms Owners Association (CLOA) Waheed Khaliq Ramay has demanded the government to announce a special relief package to keep the power loom sector intact and functional. “The inputs and cost of production of the power loom sector has gone up manifold which has led to a crisis-like situation,” he said, adding that the slump in the market and declining trend of cotton fabrics in the international market has also added to the blow. He said over 1 million workers and at least 200,000 families were earning their livelihood from the power loom sector which is by and large owned by the lower middle class.
