Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) police claimed on Friday to have solved the case of killing of a four-year-old girl in Gujjarpura.
CIA SSP Umer Virk told the media that the main suspect Farah, an aunt of the deceased Arfa, had confessed to killing her over a dispute with her mother.
The SSP said witness accounts and forensic examination suggested that the child was not assaulted before the murder. Meanwhile, Investigations DIG Shahzada Sultan told The Express Tribune that the police had yet to receive the forensic laboratory report.
Speaking to the media, the main suspect contradicted the police narrative. She said two other suspects held for interrogation had killed the child in front of her. She said the suspects had sexually assaulted the child and then strangulated her.
CIA police had arrested eight people after the body of the deceased child was found from the roof of a neigbhour’s house.
