At a press conference of Salman's upcoming film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, the actor opened up about SRK being termed a 'Pakistani agent' for his remarks on the growing religious intolerance in India.
Shah Rukh Khan 'lives in India, heart is in Pakistan': BJP leader
At first the actor refrained from delving into the controversy following comments targeted towards Shah Rukh. He urged people to "think over it themselves" by saying, "This is not the platform. Let's discuss the film," reports NDTV.
But the media managed to probe Salman forcing him to open up. "Aap khud socho. We all under one roof, does it make a difference? Does it matter to you whoever is sitting here? It doesn't. We all are Indians," he said.
In a jovial manner he added, "He (SRK) says something and then I have to come and (explain)," reports Pinkvilla.
Further commenting on the intolerance in India, Salman said, "I opened Being Human... We don't go asking people, who they are and where they are from. I don't believe in this."
PRDP co-star, Sonam Kapoor, who was also present at the event said, "Anything that is intolerant or that is said without complete evidence is unacceptable, so people just saying things in the name of religion, class, creed is disgusting and I think we should rest what we have to say at that point."
Earlier, Shah Rukh Khan, who's next film Raees stars Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, was targeted for extending support to his co-star and other cross-border talents against the ban imposed by Shiv Shena.
Will stand for Mahira's right to work in India: Shah Rukh Khan
“Shah Rukh Khan lives in India, but his heart is in Pakistan. His films make crores here but he finds India intolerant,” BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya, among many others, hit out at the actor in a series of tweets.
Nobody can stop Pakistani actors from working in Bollywood: Salman Khan
SRK, who is routinely told to go to Pakistan, told NDTV that he finds it degrading to keep proving his patriotism and he wouldn't be leaving India. He has not responded to any of the comments made by the BJP leaders.
Apart from Salman, Bollywood fraternity among many others took to Twitter to show their support for King Khan with #IStandWithSRK:
Some members of the BJP really need to control their tongue & stop talking rubbish about @iamsrk. He is a national icon & We r PROUD of him.

Can't believe Sadhvi's reaction to SRK on tv! They're ones who want to break the country apart! There should be legal action against her!
