KARACHI: In order to save the lives of citizens, Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has ordered the immediate closure of the Kathore Link Road off Super Highway. According to a press statement issued from the commissioner’s office on Wednesday evening, district East DIG Munir Shaikh had pointed out that the Kathore Link Road was very dangerous for traffic and should be immediately closed for traffic. Siddiqui has asked Malir deputy commissioner Qazi Jan Muhammad to suspend all kinds of traffic on the road until measures are taken to ensure the safety of commuters. The same road witnessed a deadly road accident on January 11 this year. Over 60 people lost their lives when a passenger bus and an oil tanker collided with each other. Following the collision, the CNG cylinders present inside the bus exploded and caused a massive fire, which claimed most of the lives.
