
A murder convict will be hanged at Bahawalpur Central Jail on Wednesday (today). The jail superintendent issued a press release on Tuesday saying that Muhammad Irshad had been convicted for a murder committed in a Sangla Hill police precinct in Sheikhupura. A district and sessions judge had issued death warrants for him. In Sargodha, Additional District and Sessions Judge Farah Naz on Tuesday sentenced a murder convict to death on Tuesday. Tauqeer Ahmed and his accomplices Sohail and Nadeem were accused of murdering deputy district education officer Rukhsana Shahzad, resident of Chak 103-NB, and injured her husband Advocate Malik Ejaz over property in a Saddar police precinct on February 16, 2014. The court sentenced Ahmed to death, 13 years imprisonment and Rs600,000 compensation. Ahmed’s accomplices, however, were acquitted.
