A week’s deadline: Tameer-e-School to be implemented urgently

PESHAWAR:

Expressing grave concern over the delay in the Tameer-e-School Programme, Minister for Education Muhammad Atif Khan gave authorities strict instructions to implement it within a week. He issued these directives while chairing a review meeting on Tameer-e- School Programme in the city on Monday. Atif also asked for a progress report at the next meeting.

Under the programme, government-run schools that lacked basic facilities like clean drinking water, boundary walls, additional classrooms, toilets, furniture and computer labs were to be identified and equipped.

According to Atif, success is inevitable for any nation that spends money on educating children. “The K-P government considers expenditure on education its prime responsibility and no power can deter it from achieving its goals,” he added.

Atif said K-P was the only province in the country that was spending 27.4% of its budget on education.
