Cybercrime bill: IT ministry denies any fresh consultations

The ministry of information out rightly rejected both the stated position of the author

News Desk November 01, 2015

The ministry of information technology on Sunday said that there was no fresh process of consultations on the cyber crimes bill, which was now property of parliament and only the legislature would decide its fate. With reference to the subject news article appearing in The Express Tribune on November 1, the ministry of information technology would like to out rightly reject both the stated position of the author relating to restart of consultative process on the Pakistan Electronic Crimes Bill 2015, as well as the statement attributed to the Finance Minister Ishaq Dar. Not only is the entire content of the article speculative, misleading, and outrightly fabricated, it is totally out of sync with anything discussed in the cited meeting as no matters relating to the Cybercrime Bill ever came under discussion in the referred meeting.
