Cab snatched and recovered

City police arrest suspect while his other three accomplices manage to escape.

ISLAMABAD: The city police recovered a cab within a few hours of being snatched and arrested a suspect while his other three accomplices managed to escape from the scene.

Four men hired a cab (LHX 2595) from Soan traffic junction and headed towards Romali road.

Halfway down, the four suspects made the driver stop the car and bundled him into the rear seat of the car at a deserted place near a jungle. However, when the car approached Romali Road, the driver of the cab managed to attract the attention of a passersby.

The people managed to stop the car and informed the police about the snatching incident. The nearest police patrol arrived at the scene and took into custody a suspect Muhammad Fayaz who was behind the steering wheel. His other three accomplices Farhan, Kabeer and Farman managed to escape from the car before the police arrived.

Hafizur Rehman, the taxi driver was recovered unhurt. However, the escaping suspects made away with his cell phone and his wallet. The Secretariat area police registered a case of kidnaping and snatching of vehicles against the suspects and further investigations are underway.
