A fumigation drive against dengue will be conducted across Karachi from October 30 to November 20, with the aim to control the rising number of dengue fever patients in the metropolis.
Dengue Control Programme Manager Dr Mushtaq Solangi said that the required insecticides have been arranged and fuel for the vehicles is also available. Around 30 vehicles have been arranged for the 20-day long exercise to combat both malaria and dengue. A schedule has been finalised in which days for fumigation are divided for all Karachi districts according to the area and population. The fumigation will be done in the evening and each zone will be covered every day.
Solangi said that the campaign will begin in district South district from October 30 to November 2, after which the fumigation will start in West district from November 3 to November 5. Similarly, the campaign will then move on to district East from November 6 to November 7 and in district Central from November 10 to November 13. The district Korangi will be fumigated from November 14 to November 17 followed by district Malir from November 18 to November 19 and Gadap on November 20.
