Ranking snooker event to kick off on Thursday

Top 24 cueists and two junior players to take part in competition

KARACHI: Top 24 cueists from around the country will explode into action at the Langnese Ranking Snooker Championship at the Movenpick Hotel in Karachi from Thursday, with two junior players also included in the competition.

Mohammad Sajjad will be defending his title, while the top eight players as per the ranking chart after the conclusion of the competition on November 5 will feature in the National Snooker Championship.

All 26 players have been divided into four groups with Rs60,000 up for grabs for the winner, while the runner-up would take home Rs35,000.

Pakistan snooker team’s training camp for the IBSF World Individual Champion, which is scheduled to be played from November 10-21 in Egypt, is already under way at the same venue where the ranking event is scheduled to take place.

Sajjad, Mohammad Asif, Shahram Changezi and Abdul Sattar were named for the prestigious event.

Asif is currently ranked first in the ranking charts followed by Sajjad, Sattar, Khurram Hussain Agha and Changezi.
