Cultural event: Youth express solidarity with Kashmiris

ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) on Tuesday organised a cultural event titled “Kashmir Taranay” in connection with the ‘Black Day’ observed on October 27 every year to mark the anniversary of India’s occupation of the territory.

Children and artists highlighted Kashmiris’ struggle for their right to self-determination through poems, tableaus and musical performances. PNCA students presented patriotic songs like ‘Junoon se, aur ishq se’.

The event highlighted the historical background of the Kashmir dispute. Waqar Azeem, head of the PNCA drama section, told The Express Tribune that drama is an essential part of culture which has the power to solve society’s problems.

“Culture reminds people of their traditions and makes them ponder over profound issues of society,” he said. Slogans of
“Pakistan Zindabad” and “Kashmir banay ga Pakistan” were heard throughout the performances.

The event ended with a poem titled “Ansoon ki zuban koi sunta nahi”.
