Public health: Commissioner unhappy with medicines shortage

Sahiwal Division Commissioner ordered that patients at emergency ward be provided free of charge medicines

Sahiwal Division Commissioner Azmat Mahmood on Sunday expressed displeasure over lack of some medicines at District Headquarters Hospital, Sahiwal. During a surprise visit to the hospital, Mahmood also expressed dissatisfaction with cleanliness arrangements. He directed the medical superintendent to immediately change sheets on some of the beds. He ordered that hospital walls be whitewashed. He asked the medical superintendent to have the washrooms repaired and take steps to improve the sanitary situation. The commissioner also took notice of some patients lying in corridors owing to shortage of beds. He directed the administration to arrange beds for them. During his visit to emergency wards, Mahmood asked doctors about the availability of medicines. He ordered that patients at emergency ward be provided free of charge medicines.
