PESHAWAR/MARDAN/HANGU:

Five Pakistan Army personnel were wounded in Hangu Saturday night when lightning struck a check post in Qazi Talab. Army officials said the wounded men were taken to Combined Military Hospital, Kohat.

In Mardan, a woman was injured when the roof of a room in her house collapsed due to rain on Sunday afternoon. Rescue 1122 officials said the roof of Saeed’s house collapsed and trapped a member of his family under the debris. The woman was severely injured and rushed to DHQ Hospital, Mardan.

In Wana, South Waziristan, rain and hailstorm damaged crops and communication systems.

Power remained suspended in the provincial capital on Sunday in areas such as Charsadda Road, Saddar and University Town. The outage was a result of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company’s (Pesco) transmission system tripping.

The rainy spell plunged temperatures throughout Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Officials of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Peshawar said the rains would continue to affect central K-P, southern districts and upper regions. Snowfall would continue, said Zahoor Ahmed, a met assistant at the department.

The department recorded 17mm rain in Peshawar, 39mm in Malam Jabba, 33mm in Risalpur, 52mm in Kohat, 52mm in Balakot, 16mm in Chirat, Chitral 10mm, Saidu Shareef 24mm, Kalam 26mm, Kakul 52mm and Dir 31mm on Sunday morning.
