From scars to books: CM asks authorities to speed up work

PESHAWAR: The chief minister has directed authorities to expedite work on Zamung Kor, a home for street children in the city. It should be operational by the end of November, he said in a handout issued by the CM Secretariat on Sunday. According to the document, Pervez Khattak was addressing a meeting organised to review the project and assess the pace of work on it. It added, “The chief minister issued directives to the planning and development, communication and works (C&W), social welfare and housing departments to ensure the project is completed in a smooth manner by November.” As per the document, Khattak ordered the police department to vacate 36 residential flats in Nassapa Housing Colony for the initiative. “Khattak directed authorities to purchase land next to the housing colony and use it for a sport field for the children who will be housed at Zamung Kor,” stated the handout. Khattak asked the C&W department to make it a purpose-built house for street children.
