ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) has decided to take up in parliament the mistreatment of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials at the hands of Shiv Sena in India. The opposition party wants thorough discussion and wants parliament to pass a resolution on the issue.

PPP on Thursday submitted a resolution in the National Assembly Secretariat in this regard. Moved by MNAs Imran Zafar Leghari, Shazia Atta Marri, Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, Dr Nafisa Shah and Mir Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani, the resolution calls on the government of Pakistan to take up this issue and urges international forums to declare Shiv Sena an extremist organisation.

“The house strongly protests against the recent mistreatment of PCB officials by Shiv Sena in India; vehemently condemns the recent chain of incidents of hostility against Pakistani nationals on diplomatic and cultural fronts; urges the government to summon the Indian high commissioner immediately to lodge strong protest; Appeals to the government to take this issue fervently internationally and declare Shiv Sena an extremist organisation,” reads the text of the draft of the resolution.

The session of the National Assembly is due from November 6. If the National Assembly Secretariat brings the resolution on the agenda, it will engender a discussion before the house passes this resolution.
