ISLAMABAD: A teacher of a government-run school in Islamabad brutally shaved a sixth grade student’s head with a blade as punishment.

The teacher, identified as Rana Rizwan, shaved Zohaib Hattar’s head in class at Islamabad Model College, Sector G-10/4.

Following the incident, the sixth grader’s parents lodged a complaint with the Prime Minister’s complaint cell. “The blade was old which scratched the head of my son and he is sick now,” Zohaib’s father told The Express Tribune.

“We don’t know the reason why the teacher shaved our son’s head,” his father said, adding the school administration had not provided a reason as yet.

In his complaint, Zohaib’s father, Adhel Hattar, wrote that his son is sick and has withdrawn from the school. He requested the premier to take action and lodge an FIR against the teacher.

When approached, the teacher and principal of the college refused to comment on the issue. “The issue is with the concerned ministry and department — so we will not comment on it,” a staff member of the college told The Express Tribune.
