Zaidi said that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) claims that their workers and supporters have been victims of extrajudicial killings during the ongoing Karachi operation but what about the grievances of the families of nearly 15,000 citizens of Karachi who have been killed since 2007.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday at the party's main Karachi headquarters, Insaf House, Zaidi rejected the formation of the GRC, and questioned why, if a committee had to be formed to redress grievances about the ongoing Karachi operation, an MQM senator was on it.
He suggested that the government form a committee including all stakeholders in Karachi, representatives of law enforcement agencies and, most importantly, the family members of the victims of violence in Karachi.
"The government has recently been active, sharing information of involvement of RAW in terrorist activities in Pakistan," said Zaidi. He claimed that Scotland Yard had shared evidence of the MQM being funded by RAW but the federal government negotiated a deal with the party and formed a committee. "We fear that with an MQM member on the board, this committee could lead to the leaking of sensitive information about the Karachi operation, which has been going successfully thus far," said Zaidi.
PTI Karachi leader Imran Ismail also announced that the party will go to the district South court tomorrow to lodge a petition against the rejection of their FIR application against Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz leader Daniyal Aziz. "We will lodge a petition to file an FIR against Aziz for issuing threats on a live TV programme," he said.
