KARACHI:

Having been part of the fashion industry for half a decade now, fashion designer Emraan Rajput has nurtured an identity that sets him apart from everyone else. With his formal wear ready to take the spotlight at the third edition of India Fashion Week 2015, The Express Tribune speaks to the designer about the latest offering on his fashion palette.

Rajput is gearing up to showcase his collection, titled ‘Rung-e-Roya’, at the two-day event scheduled for October 30 and October 31, in Dubai. Of his offerings at the fashion week, Rajput shares that he will be exhibiting crafted sherwanis coupled with elaborate waistcoats. “They [sherwanis] will be the perfect choice for fashion conscious people who want to rock the fall celebrations with a traditional touch,” adds Rajput. His designs will exude a perfect blend of vibrant colours and elegant cuts.

With plans to display eastern menswear on the ramp this year, Rajput has drawn inspiration for his collection from “a powerful revival of traditional South Asian designs.” He mentions, “Roya is a Persian word for dream or vision. Taking inspiration from ancient Persians who were masters of poetry and motion, something that was evident in their dressing as well, Rung-e-Roya finally came together when I set my hands on the right inspiration.”

Taking fashion one step at a time

Thrilled at the being given the chance to represent Pakistan at India Fashion Week, Rajput feels it is the perfect opportunity to exhibit Pakistani talent in front of a mass audience. “It [India Fashion Week] is a major platform for South Asian designers and I’m excited to show our talent to the world. Dubai is a meeting point for the East and the West and I think it is on its way to become one of the fashion capitals of the world,” he adds.

“It is an extremely overwhelming opportunity to be given the chance once again to participate in an international event,” exclaims Rajput. The designer has already showcased his creations at the Dubai Fashion Week and Doha Fashion Week.

With his hands full at the moment, Rajput is not inclined towards participating at Fashion Pakistan Week but has plans to showcase at the Bridal Couture Week towards the end of the year. Speaking of what he has to offer at Bridal Couture Week, he says, “I will showcase my exclusive top-of-the-line formal menswear and grooms wear. Keep an eye out for it ... my team has come up with some amazing ideas for this one.”
