If Pakistani celebrities were asked 'kya hai tumhare paas?'
'Aaj mere paas buildingein hain, property hai, bank balance hai, bangla hai, gaari hai... Kya hai tumhare paas?'
KARACHI:
Everyone remembers Bollywood blockbuster Deewar which featured Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor in lead roles.
Although the film itself is pretty amazing, it's perhaps the popular "Meray pass ma hai" sequence which has made it truly unforgettable.
"Aaj mere paas buildingey hai, property hai, bank balance hai, bangla hai, gaari hai... Kya hai tumhare paas?"
Most Pakistanis and Indians who have seen the film are guilty of using the dialogue at least once in real life. It was, and still is, one of the most brutal comebacks ever.
9 kinds of Pakistanis we come across everyday
Fast forward 40 years and let's see what the answers would be if one was to ask some of our celebrities the same question.
"Aaj mere paas buildingey hai, property hai, bank balance hai, bangla hai, gaari hai... Kya hai tumhare paas?"
1. Hamza Ali Abbasi
"Kya hai tumhare paas?"
"Meray paas social media hai"
Arguably the king of social media in Pakistan, Mr Abbasi has the one thing that people can't live without these days. His social media presence is part of what makes him controversially famous and we all know why he loves it so much.
2. Mehwish Hayaat
"Kya hai tumhare paas?"
"Meray paas Billi hai."
Mehwish stunned audiences after her sizzling performance in Na Maaloom Afraad on the song Billi, and since then her career took a surprising turn. She has been busy with film offers, commercials and all that an actor/model desires.
Many people who didn't even like cats are now passionate lovers of Billi, and that's definitely something Mehwish can flaunt.
3. Fawad Khan
"Kya hai tumhare paas?"
"Good looks, good looks and good looks."
After charming everyone with his looks and talent in his Bollywood debut Khoobsurat, Fawad is now a popular heartthrob on the other side of the border too. People can't get enough of this unbelievably handsome man -- the girls want to be with him and the guys want to be like him.
4. Dr Aamir Liaquat
"Kya hai tumhare paas?"
"Yeh poocho kya nahin hai!"
That's right, from sponsors and TV shows to cars, aam ki petiyan, lawn joras, mobile phones, fake degrees, and eager guests, Liaquat has it all. Period.
5. Mawra Hocane
"Kya hai tumhare paas?"
"Selfies, lots and lots of them."
Mawra, who will soon be seen in her debut Bollywood film, loves taking unlimited selfies of herself -- and these selfies have garnered numerous followers on social media. Mawra is surely deserving of being crowned the selfie queen of Pakistan.
What would these Pakistani stars be doing if they weren't famous?
6. Shahid Afridi
"Kya hai tumhare paas?"
"Khan ka dimaagh aur Lala ki daring."
Sometimes aggressive and sometimes really polite, Afridi is one of a kind. There are times when he can play like no tomorrow and win us the match (khaan ka dimaagh), and then there are times when he comes back to the pavilion after one risky shot (lala ki a little too much daring).
7. Veena Malik
"Kya hai tumhare paas?"
"Meray paas Abram Khan hai, not AbRam Khan."
Veena named her child Abram, sometime after Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan named his third child AbRam. Now we don't know if it's a coincidence but a child is every mother's most prized possession, and we are sure Abram is Veena's.
8. Qandeel Baloch
"Kya hai tumhare paas?"
"Emmm..meray paas...emmm.."
Obviously Qandeel was busy asking people how she was looking and couldn't reply, but we are sure everyone agrees that the one thing she does have are loads and loads of followers on social media, half of who hate her and the other half who have nothing to do apart from telling her she looks "marvelous".
9. Meera
"Kya hai tumhare paas?"
"A lot. I'm having a lot of things in my life, mashAllah. Would not like to discuss kyun ke you know, big stars ke rumours and gossip and all."
Controversy's favourite child, Meera, would probably have too much lined up to say if someone asks her this question.
10. Asif Ali Zardari
"Kya hai tumhare paas?"
"My killer smile."
The former president of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, has one of the most interesting smiles in the world -- you can never tell if he's faking it or genuinely smiling.
Girls, forget your Edward, Raj, Jacob and Mr Grey, here's the real charmer!
