A large number of Sikhs took to the streets in the city on Tuesday against the alleged desecration of their sacred book, Guru Granth Sahib in India. Demonstrators gathered outside Peshawar Press Club to voice their objections against the matter.
“Communities that are in the minority in India were never as vulnerable as they have become during the BJP-led government,” said Special Adviser to the Chief Minister on Minority Affairs Sardar Soran Singh. A few days ago, the alleged desecration of the sacred book provoked widespread protests in North India. Joining the uproar, members of the Sikh community in Pakistan have appealed the federal government to condemn the incident on a diplomatic level.
