Two police personnel shot dead in Quetta
Unknown assailants opened fire at the personnel as they were guarding the check-post, says DPO
QUETTA:
Two police personnel were gunned down in Bhugra area of Chaman in Balochistan on Tuesday evening, a day after a bomb blast in a bus that claimed 11 lives in Quetta.
DPO Asad Khan Nasir said armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire at a police check-post in Chaman, killing two personnel instantly.
“Safar Muhammad and Abdullah were at their check-post when unknown armed men targeted them,” Nasir said, adding it could be an act of targeted killing.
The attackers managed to escape from the scene of the crime, he said.
At least 11 killed, several injured in Quetta bus explosion
Following the incident, police and FC personnel rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. The deceased were shifted to Civil Hospital in Chaman.
Earlier on Monday, at least 11 people were killed and 22 others injured in an explosion inside a passenger bus at Quetta’s Sariab Road.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, IG Balochistan Almish Khan had said the bomb was a time device and planted on the roof of the overcrowded bus. “It weighed four to five kilogrammes.”
