Tensions in kashmir: Mirwaiz meets Pakistan envoy

Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Monday met Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit in New Delhi, about two months after his proposed meeting with Pakistan’s National Security Adviser Sartaj Aziz was aborted. The Mirwaiz is understood to have discussed issues related to Kashmir during his 70-minute meeting with Basit, PTI said quoting sources. Significantly, the pro-freedom leader met the Pakistan envoy on a day when Kashmir was witnessing tension and clashes over the death of a trucker who succumbed to injuries suffered in a petrol bomb attack 10 days ago.
