Bon voyage: PTDC to announce tourism policy
Alpine Club of Pakistan President highlighted the issues faced by the mountaineers, trekkers and tour operators
ISLAMABAD:
The Pakistan Tourism Development Cooperation (PTDC) would be announcing the National Tourism Policy shortly, after consultation with all stakeholders, said PTDC Managing Director Kabir Ahmad Khan. Addressing all stakeholders in the tourism sector, he said on Prime Minister’s directions, Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Pervaiz Rashid was getting feedback from stakeholders to formulate the proposed policy. Alpine Club of Pakistan President Manzoor Hussain highlighted the issues faced by the mountaineers, trekkers and tour operators. “After devolution, the department of tourist services has been bifurcated among provinces and at the federal level,” he said. Other speakers highlighted the need to ease visa formalities and verification process of tourist groups, saying this would help increase the tourist influx and create a secure environment in Pakistan.
