Awami National Party has launched a consolidation drive within the province to resolve issues with dissidents within the party and bring them back into the fold for success in the next general elections. This was shared by insiders on Monday.
The drive was launched in Swabi by Deputy Secretary Aimal Khan, who was also named chairman of the committee which will consult disgruntled workers. Some of the prominent leaders in the dissident group include former MPA Sikander Irfan, former district nazim Jehanzeb Khan, advocate Arshad Ali and many more.
On this occasion, the unhappy party workers presented a five-point list of demands for the central leadership’s consideration.
Aimal said all constitutional demands of the members would be met soon. He said, “Party workers are the real assets of ANP. But those workers who violated our rules in recent local government elections are being investigated by relevant district committees.”
Aimal added district committees would report to provincial committees who would decide the future of the individuals. However, the deputy secretary made it clear no district committee was authorised to take action against any one.
He said that the party was being reorganised in the province and differences were being removed.

Correction: An earlier version of this story appeared in print which stated the drive was being held to recruit former party workers. This has been corrected to read disgruntled party workers. The error is regretted.
