PESHAWAR: An application demanding the registration of a separate FIR for each child martyred in the Army Public School attack was filed at Peshawar High Court on Friday.

The application was filed by Shahid Orakzai, a journalist, with Michni SHO and Peshawar district and sessions judge as respondents.

Orakzai said Michni police had registered a single FIR for 153 children who had lost their lives on December 16, 2014. “The FIR does not have the name of a single martyred child,” he said.

He added the police station lacked resources to investigate so many cases therefore the parents of each martyred child should register a separate FIR. Orakzai demanded each case should be investigated separately.

“Not probing into each registered FIR will be a violation of the Quran and Constitution of Pakistan,” he wrote in the application.

The applicant urged the court to constitute a larger bench to investigate the tragedy and direct district and sessions judge to register separate FIRs and follow up on subsequent investigations.

“A similar application was heard by a division bench at Peshawar High Court on March 3 and later transferred to Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel but it is yet to be heard,” said Orakzai.
