LAHORE: The provincial government is working on gas-based projects to produce 3,600MW electricity in the minimum possible time, said Punjab Power Development Company Chairman Arif Saeed. Eulogising the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, he said the Punjab government was working day and night to complete the power projects, while work on the 1,320MW coal power plant in Sahiwal is being carried out on war footing. “The plant being completed with the cooperation of China would start generating electricity by 2017.” He said the government had already finished the 100MW solar project in Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Bahawalpur with its own resources. “Efforts are under way to produce electricity from alternative sources and we are working on projects to generate electricity through gas, coal, solar, hydel, biogas, biomass and wind sources,” he added.
