A militant commander was killed while another was injured during an encounter between the police and proclaimed offenders at a market in Pir Baba, Buner on Monday night.


Insiders told The Express Tribune that five proclaimed offenders ambushed police personnel when they were on routine patrolling in the Balo Khan area within the jurisdiction of Pir Baba police station. As a result, the police opened fire at them. As a result, a wanted militant identified as Azmat was killed.

Another militant was injured and managed to escape with the other proclaimed offenders. Following the encounter, SDPO Ghulam Ahad and SHO Pir Baba police station Khalid Khan cordoned off the area and carried out a search operation. DPO Khalid said Azmat was an accomplice of a militant commander, Azizur Rehman.


A policeman was killed and a constable was injured when the militants opened fire. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan has claimed responsibility for the attack.
