Sprint to the finish: TCKP organises gruelling cycle race

Participants will peddle from Islamabad to Nathiagali via Abbottabad

ABBOTABAD: As part of World Tourism Day celebrated around the globe on September 27, the Tourism Corporation Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is organising a cycle race from Islamabad to Nathiagali.

According to TCKP media manager Zahra Alam, the theme for this year is ‘One billion opportunities, one billion tourists’. She said some known cyclists registered with the Pakistan Cycling Federation will take part.

The event will kick off from Islamabad from where cyclists will head to Nathiagali via Abbottabad on October 13 and 14. The race will get under way at 10am from Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad. After passing through Taxila, Hasan Abdal and Haripur via GT Road, cyclists will race to the finish line at Faridullah Machli Farosh near Salhad village.

A reception will be held in honour of the cyclists and organisers by the management of the Modern Age Girls School Abbottabad.

On the second day, the participants will start their race from Board of Intermediate Secondary Education Abbottabad’s office at 9am. The race will culminate at Elite Hotel in Nathiagali. Alam said the TCKP also arranged a mesmerising train excursion to Attock Khurd on the same day.
