CTD arrests three suspected target killers in Karachi

Police say suspects were arrested in raids at Shah Faisal Colony and Liaquatabad areas of city

KARACHI: The Sindh Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed to have apprehended on Monday three suspects involved in various cases of target killings in Karachi.

The suspects were identified as Kamran Qureshi, Khawar and Yamin Qureshi.

The arrests were disclosed during a press conference held at the CTD office in Saudabad where CTD SSP Junaid Shaikh informed media that two of the arrested killers belonged to a political party.

The SSP said Kamran and Khawar were arrested during a raid in Liaquatabad, whereas Yamin was arrested from Shah Faisal Colony.

Speaking about the suspected killers arrested from Liaquatabad, SSP Shaikh said, “In addition to their involvement in targeted killings, they had also been involved in generating funds for target killers by forcibly collecting fitra and hides of sacrificial animals.

“They even provided shelter, arms and ammunition to the target killers.”

Meanwhile, Yamin is allegedly involved in target killing of a police constable, the SSP said, adding further investigation was underway.
