France coach Didier Deschamps insisted the injury was not "serious" but that Benzema, 27, would be returning to his club on Friday afternoon.
"He felt a little tightness in the hamstring," said Deschamps.
Benzema is likely to be replaced by Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud in Copenhagen, although Manchester United's Anthony Martial or Alexandre Lacazette of Lyon could also step into the breach.
No indication was given as to how long Benzema faces on the sidelines.
