KARACHI: Ian Mark John maintained his winning form on day two of the NBP Ranking Snooker Championship as he stunned talented youngster Mohammad Majid Ali 4-1 at the NBP Sports Complex on Thursday.

Despite the tell-tale signs of the final score, Majid gave his opponent a tough time but John held onto his supremacy twice — in the third and fifth frames — to win by a scoreline of 82-37, 51-60, 61-52, 69-22 and 50-46.

In other matches, Shah Khan beat Amir Tariq 4-1 while Abu Saim shocked in a 4-2 win over Abdul Sattar by scores of 59-15, 66-42, 77-80, 64-28, 42-71 and 97-19.

The most interesting match of the day was played between Mohammad Ishtiaq and Mohammad Faheem, who came back from 3-1 down to triumph 4-3 in a seven-frame thriller.

Ishtiaq had won the first frame but Faheem drew parity by coming out on top in the following one.

Ishtiaq brought himself closer to victory by winning two consecutive frames to go 3-1 up. However, victory eluded him as Faheem bounced back to triumph in the next three frames to end the match with scores of 15-61, 55-49, 28-65, 0-108(102), 59-09, 65-50 and 61-47.

Meanwhile, Sultan Muhammad won 4-3 against Muhammad Ahsan Javaid by scores of 23-69, 65-01, 58-23, 01-70(53), 73-10, 13-110(93) and 63-26 while Zulfiqar Qadir beat Uzair Aziz 4-3.
