Crackdown: PFA seals more food outlets

Six food outlets, a bread production unit sealed.

LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed several food outlets on Tuesday and fined others for violating its hygiene code.

PFA’s Data Ganj Bakhsh Town team sealed Eat & Sip restaurant on The Mall. The team said the restaurant was using broken eggs, stale meat and unlabelled buns. The restaurants’ freezers were found dirty and contained leftovers.

The Allama Iqbal Town team sealed Hafiz Juice Corner, Burger and Shawarma Corner in Board of Revenue Society, Johar Town, for using unlabelled buns and bread. It said the freezers were found disorganised and dirty. The workers lacked medical certification and were not wearing head covers, the team reported.

The team also sealed Super Fine Shawarma Bread Production unit in Township. It said there was a washroom in the production hall and bread was found lying on the floor. The production and expiry dates had not been stamped on the products, it further reported.

The Ravi Town team sealed Shehzor General Store and Arif Tobacco in Taxali Gate for operating without food licences and selling unlabelled and expired food items.

The Samanabad Town team sealed the Roomy Fruit and Juice Corner at Faiz Road, Muslim Town for not showing medical certificates for its workers. There was also no soap for washing utensils, the team said.

The authority also sealed Mian Mir Milk Shop, Allama Iqbal Road, Dharampura for not having a licence. The shop was found using barrels meant for storage of industrial chemicals to store milk and had a porous floor, the report said. Workers did not have medical certificates, it added.

The PFA also fined Majirica Restaurant, Muslim Town; Lasani Burger, Main GT Road; and Shabab Hotel, Bijli Ghar Road.
