A Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) faction on Tuesday announced support for the Pakistan Muslim League -Nawaz (PML-N) in the upcoming by-polls in NA-122 and PP-147.
The announcement was made by Dr Safdar Abbasi following a meeting with PML-N candidate Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. Hur Bukhari, a PPP worker from NA 122, and Sajida Mir, a former MPA, accompanied Abbasi.
Speaking to The Express Tribune after the press conference, Abbasi said he believed Sadiq was the best choice among those competing in the NA 122 by-poll. “He has a record of working for promotion of democracy,” he said.
Separately, the Jamiat Ahle Hadith Pakistan also announced support for Sadiq on Tuesday. Abdul Ghaffar Ropari, the JAH political affairs head, made the announcement following a meeting with PML-N leader Hamza Shahbaz Sharif.
