Preparations have been completed by the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) to introduce an e-ticketing system for fining traffic rule violators in capital. “The new e-ticketing is aimed at replacing the old paper challan system; one will see traffic police personnel with Android phones to fine violators,” SSP Traffic Matloob Ahmed said on Tuesday. The new project aims to facilitate citizens and make the system more transparent, he added. The pilot will be launched in zone-1 of the city, covering the area of Koral to Secretariat. According to the new system, violators will be able to pay their fines through Easy Paisa, debit or credit cards, and in all 26 branches of the National Bank of Pakistan. He added that a video recording of the ITP officer and violator will be made via smart phone to monitor the conduct of traffic police officials.
