SHABQADAR:

District, tehsil, village, youth, minority and women councillors threaten to resign if the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government fails to pay them their honorary salary.

This was stated in news conferences held at Shabqadar Press Club on Wednesday and Thursday. The councillors said the K-P government announced monthly salaries and expenditure for district, tehsil and village nazims but nothing has been given to the councillors. “Since we are elected representatives, we are unable to set up our own businesses or join some other government or private service and if the government refuses to pay us salaries, how are we supposed to earn money?” said one of the councillors.

Fahim Khan, another councillor, said, “When we asked for monetary compensation, we were told to take a certain amount as commission from development works but that will only pave the way for corruption.”
